1/2/2009 AmSurg Corp. announced that it closed the acquisition of a controlling interest in Phoenix Orthopaedic Ambulatory Center, L.L.C. (POAC) for an undisclosed amount. Phoenix, Arizona-based POAC is the largest orthopedic-only outpatient surgical facility in the Southwest. AmSurg develops, acquires, and operates single-specialty ambulatory surgery centers across the U.S. POAC was represented by Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.




1/8/2009 Inilex, Inc. announced it closed the acquisition of SkyWay Systems, Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Tempe, Arizona-based Inilex provides global positioning systems and mobile asset management systems.




1/16/2009 Sony Online Entertainment, LLC announced it closed the acquisition of "PoxNora," an online collectible strategy game, as well as other game development assets from Tucson-based Octopi, LLC. Osborn Maledon, P.A. was counsel to Octopi.




1/22/2009 REM Medical Corp. announced it closed the acquisition of PsyPharma Global, LLC's Tucson Site for an undisclosed amount. REM Medical operates physician-led sleep medicine clinics that evaluates, diagnoses, cares, and treats sleep-related breathing and sleep-wake disorders in Arizona. REM Medical is based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Phoenix, Arizona-based PsyPharma is a contract research organization specializing in phase 2-4 trials in the United States and China in sleep disorders, psychiatry, and neurology.

01/01/09 The Apothecary Shops announced that Los Angeles-based private equity firm Riordan, Lewis and Haden, Inc. has acquired a majority stake in the company from its founder, Dr. John Musil. The transaction involved forming a new parent company, Apothecary Holdings, Inc., of which Dr. Musil is the CEO, President and one of three directors. Apothecary Holdings, Inc. owns and operates specialty pharmacies in five states, as well as ships prescription medications to mail order customers in 45 states. Quarles & Brady LLP represented The Apothecary Shops and Dr. Musil in the transaction.

1/7/2009 Research Corporation Technologies and other investors announced the closing of their $7.2 million investment in OrthAlign Inc. Headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, Research Corporation Technologies is a technology development company that commercializes early-stage technologies developed by universities and research institutions.
