M&A - Strategic

10/4/2010 Neutron Interactive, LLC acquired EnticeLabs, Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Neutron Interactive operates as an online media and marketing company in the lead generation industry. Based in Provo, Utah, EnticeLabs provides solutions for online recruitment advertising.


10/4/2010 Rand McNally & Company acquired a 4% stake in DriverTech, LLC for an undisclosed amount. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, DriverTech designs and manufactures mobile computer systems for commercial trucking, military, private fleet, and emergency medical services industries.


10/21/2010 Beijer Electronics AB (OM: BELE) acquired QSI Corporation for an undisclosed amount. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, QSI Corporation, whose company name was changed to Beijer Electronics, Inc., engages in designing, manufacturing, and supplying human machine interface and mobile data terminals for industrial OEMs and commercial vehicle system integrators in the United States.


M&A - Financial

10/6/2010 SWK Holdings Corporation (OTCBB: SWKH) agreed to acquire Lagan Technologies Ltd. for an undisclosed amount. Based in Provo, Utah, SWK Holdings, formerly know as KANA Software, Inc., invests in small to mid-market enterprises.


10/14/2010 TPG Growth acquired a 25% stake in Schiff Nutrition International Inc. (NYSE: WNI) from Weider Health and Fitness, Inc. for $48.8 million through the purchase of 7.5 million shares of Class B common stock. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Schiff Nutrition engages in the development, manufacture, marketing, and distribution of vitamins, nutritional supplements, and nutrition bars in the United States and internationally. Latham & Watkins LLP served as the legal advisor to Schiff Nutrition. Ropes & Gray LLP served as the legal advisor to TPG Growth.


Private Placements

10/1/2010 7 Degrees, Inc. announced that it will raise $6.8 million through the issue of common shares. The round of funding will see participation from eight investors, including vSpring Capital. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, 7Degrees develops graph databases, such as PeopleMaps, that enable users to view and navigate a social or corporate network. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, vSpring Capital is a private equity and venture capital firm specializing in seed, startup and early-stage investments.


10/4/2010 Lineagen, Inc. announced that it intends to raise $15.0 million in a round of funding with at least $5.0 million coming from a group of investors that includes vSpring Capital. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Lineagen is a content-based discovery company that focuses on the commercialization of diagnostic tests for personalized medicine and healthcare regimens.


10/18/2010 World Heart Corp. (NasdaqCM: WHRT) announced a private placement for gross proceeds of $25.3 million. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, World Heart focuses on the development and commercialization of implantable ventricular assist devices (VADs) in the United States, Europe, Canada, and Japan. Cooley LLP served as legal advisor to the company.


10/13/2010 Mangia Technologies, Inc. announced that it will raise $6.2 million through the issuance of equity shares. As of October 26, the company has raised $477,417 in funding from five investors. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mangia Technologies provides a platform for sports fans at stadiums and arenas to order food, merchandise, and tickets from their seats using mobile phones.


10/20/2010 Kontiki, Inc. announced that it has raised $10.7 million in a round of funding from a group of investors, including Cross Creek Capital. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Cross Creek Capital is a venture capital firm specializing in fund of funds and direct investments.
