10/1/2009 Banner Health acquired the assets of Sun City Cardiac Center Associates, LLP from MedCath Partners, LLC. Phoenix-based Banner Health operates as a nonprofit health care company providing hospital, home hospice and long term care services in the United States.

10/5/2009 Waste Services of Florida, Inc. acquired the operations and related assets of the Miami-Dade operations of Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) for $32 million in cash. Republic Services provides nonhazardous solid waste collection and disposal services in the United States and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Akerman Senterfitt served as legal advisor to Republic Services.

10/9/2009 AFS Technologies, Inc. acquired Becton Schantz Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Phoenix-based AFS Technologies, Inc., doing business as Advanced FoodSystems, provides food and beverage enterprise software solutions in North America and the Caribbean.

10/14/2009 Baywood International Inc. (OTCBB: BAYW) closed the sale of its LifeTime brand and associated assets to Nutraceutical International Corp. (NASDAQGS:NUTR). Scottsdale-based Baywood, has historically engaged in the development, marketing, and distribution of nutraceutical products under the LifeTime brand. Since the sale of the LifeTime assets, Baywood has been renamed New Leaf Brands and is now focused on growing its presence in the ready-to-drink tea market. Columbia West Capital served as exclusive financial advisor to Baywood.

10/16/2009 GPS Industries Inc. (OTCBB: GPSQ.E) has acquired Prolink Holdings Corp. (OTCBB: PLKH.E) for an undisclosed amount. Prolink engages in the design, manufacture, maintenance, and sale of global positioning satellite golf course management systems and software and is headquartered in Chandler, Arizona.

10/22/2009 CCS Presentation Systems, Inc. acquired a majority interest in Creative Presentations, Inc. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Scottsdale-based CCS engages in the integration, installation, and maintenance of audio and video equipment for corporate, government, and educational sectors.

10/23/2009 Amkor Technology, Inc. (NasdaqGS: AMKR) and Toshiba Corp. (TSE:6502) signed a definitive agreement to acquire a 40% stake in Nakaya Microdevices Corporation for $21.7 million. Chandler-based Amkor operates as a subcontractor of semiconductor packaging and test services.

10/27/2009 Acal plc (LSE: ACL) announced its intention to acquire BFi OPTiLAS International S.A.S from Activa Capital and Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT) for $18.6 million. Phoenix-based Avnet distributes electronic components, enterprise computer and storage products, and embedded subsystems.

10/1/2009 Private Equity firm P.A.G. Capital Partners acquired a majority interest in Corporate Technology Solutions, LLC. Tempe-based CTS operates as a structured cabling system integration contractor specializing in the installation and design of voice, data, video and fiber optic cabling systems.
