8/13/2009 Brian R. Kahn, Chairman of the Board of Directors of White Electronic Designs Corp. (NasdaqGM:WEDC), announced an intention to make a tender offer to acquire and additional 16.3% of the company for $15.9 million in cash. Phoenix-based White Electronic Designs develops, and manufactures defense electronic components and systems for inclusion in high technology products for the defense and aerospace markets in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Snell and Wilmer L.L.P. served as legal advisor to White Electronic Designs Corp. Foley & Lardner LLP served as legal advisor to Mr. Kahn.



8/25/2009 SuperShuttle International, Inc. announced it closed the acquisition of the assets of Houston-based Adams Systems, LLC for an undisclosed amount. The transaction enables SuperShuttle to establish its share ride operations in the Houston, Texas metropolitan area. DLA Piper LLP served as legal counsel to SuperShuttle International, Inc.



Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC, a Toshiba Group Company, announced that it acquired Scottsdale-based CS Innovations, LLC, a leading Instrumentation and Control (I&C) nuclear product supplier to the digital I&C safety system upgrade market. Titus, Brueckner & Berry, P.C. served as legal advisor to CS Innovations, LLC.



Private Placements

8/5/2009 LifeLock, Inc. announced that it has received $20 million in funding from Symantec Corporation. LifeLock offers identity theft protection services and is located in Tempe.



8/12/2009 Ambature, LLC announced that it has raised $1.0 million in its round of funding. As part of the round, the company issued convertible debt securities, along with options, warrants or other rights to acquire another security. The company plans to raise additional proceeds of $12,500,000, bringing the total proceeds raised in the transaction to $13.5 million. Mesa-based Ambature designs and develops technology to improve the efficiency of power distribution while reducing electricity consumption.



8/17/2009 AmpliMed Corporation announced that it has placed $3.7 million of a $12.0 million equity raise with eight investors. Tucson based AmpliMed discovers, develops, and commercializes compounds for the treatment of cancer.



8/18/2009 AZPB Limited Partnership DBA Arizona Diamondbacks announced that it has raised gross proceeds of $49.9 million. The company sold limited partnership units to six outside investors in the transaction. The Phoenix-based Arizona Diamondbacks operates as a professional league baseball team.



8/31/2009 Republic Services Inc. (NYSE:RSG) announced it intends to conduct a private placement of senior notes due 2019 for gross proceeds of $500 million. Phoenix-based Republic Services provides nonhazardous solid waste collection and disposal services.
